Bomb threat on Air France flight

avion_air_france

Security personnel at Buenos Aires-Ezeiza airport in Argentina delayed an Air France flight this evening before departing for Paris immediately after the company received a bomb threat over the phone at the airport offices.

The Argentine Federal Police, along the Firemen’s direction and the Airport’s Security proceeded to inspect the plane, that had arrived this morning from the French city and, after a brief stop, was preparing to return.

The routine procedure lasted approximately an hour and a half and, as sources of the airport reported, all the passengers are ok and they were not evacuated from the plane.

They want you to believe a high time seasoned Captain did not know how to use the high tech weather avoidance system in the cockpit and flew right into the thunderstorm cells against all training and common sense. Remenber Pan Am 103 over Lockerbie?

    So sad.

  2. Woody Focker says:

God it’s funny to listen to you neocontards piss and moan. I guess it’s still true: all conservatives are not necessarily stupid, but most stupid people are conservatives.

Jim-in-Texas…. American Flight 587 crashed in Queens, not The Bronx.

@jason: I don’t know? You tell me, since you’re obviously controlled by MSNBC.

  5. Dennis says:

I am left to wonder if the cause of the accident was catastrophic structural failure due to the heavy turbulence. A few months after 911 an Airbus A300 crashed in Queens due to “excessive use of the rudder” after encountering wake turbulence from a 747 flying ahead of it. Use of the rudder caused the tail to separate from the aircraft and this failure was during climb out at fairly low speed. Of course, every pilot is taught that if an aircraft is flown below Va (maneuvering) speed there is no control input that can cause structural failure but in this case that rule didn’t apply.

I do not know if the A330 has similar construction (though most manufacturers like to keep things similar in the construction process to keep production costs down) but if the same type of failure occurred at altitude and at cruise there would be no time for the flight crew to issue a mayday as the plane would break apart very quickly.

Hopefully, they can find both the FDR and CVR, though if my scenario is correct Airbus would probably prefer them not to be found.

I flew on Air France from Paris to Philadelphia on May 28. The personal search of my person snd carry-on was very extensive. I think they knew something was up.

MIke Hunt hit it right on the nose. Why do right wing conservatives in this country think that everything that goes wrong in the world can be attributed to Democrats and liberals? They’ve only been in power for 5 months. Things were going wrong long before that. None of which has anything to do with an Air France flight departing from Brazil.. Get over yourselves already.

  8. dan says:

    dear mike hunt.

please feel free to blame bush for every problem you will ever have in your life. he has accepted that. there is no legitamite proof that the white house knew about 9/11. as long as we’re speculating, i think obama is a muslim sent by osama to infiltrate our system, become president, and blow up french airlines. see? i can do it too.
for the record, airport security gets over 10,000 tips a day, if any system were to respond to all of them, we would have no airline service. i still am not convinced this was a terror attack. terrorists like things big and loud, not shady and mysterious. this does not match any terrorist MO we have seen.
for the record, i support Obama as i supported Bush. yes, they both have problems, but they are still our presidents.
if you still want to hold speculation and promote your ignorance, you are one of three things.
    1. Arrogant
    2. Ignorant
    3. Both
    anyone else disagree?

  9. Annemarie says:

heartfelt condolances to all those affected by this tradegy.

    peace – to All.

  10. zeller says:

Why would terrorists down a plane but leave any doubt. They thrive on spectacle and display of power, hence the root word “terror”.

A “maybe they did / not sure” scenario doesn’t really seem to fit their purpose or M.O.

  11. jack says:

    Mike and everyone else,

When are any of you going to grow up and realize much of where we are today is large part due to decisions we made almost 30 years ago. YES, I mean WE! You want to blame GB or BO for where WE are? Take a harder look at where we are and how we got here and you’ll realize we created these problems.

We want cheap gas, someone else to parent our kids, free health care for everyeone (regardless if you attempt to take care of yourself or not), free speech (even if you dont really know what that means), the right to own guns, low taxes, and overwhelming number of free services, and lets not forget government out of our lives.

But, its GW’s fault we’re here! No wait, its BO’s fault now. Lets not forget though Clinton, Bush Sr., Reagan, and Carter. A long list of our parents generation who have all managed to make decisions that dont mirror our own. Next you’ll say, “well i didnt vote for any of them.” You didnt have to. We’re all part of this and we’re all accountable.

When we stop blaming someone who the majority of us elected to higher office we may start getting somewhere. When we realize the social problems we have today is because we can barely be accountable to ourselves we are finally in control.

To bad you’ll still be blaming someone elese for your problems.

    Jack

  12. Mike says:

Mike Hunt and Jasper. Are you 2 morons related? I sincerely hope
that you have no children whose minds you can pollute, too.

  13. Just Me says:

    Hey Mike HKunt,

. You call names because that’s what all dems do when threatened. Seems to me that that is a stupid thing. To turn it around you are

    1. Unable to do anything but regurgitate partisan claptrap
    2. A Marxist
    3. Both

I say number 3! Anyone else agree?

  14. Brett Thompson says:

Wasn’t around 1986 a London to New York British Airways jet was “quietly” blown up somehwere over Greenland? I remember flying the same route just after it happened.

  15. Chris says:

    M. Hunt – I’m in total agreement with you. Could Drudge find a more credible new link? Perhaps, but then he couldn’t fan the flame of Obama hate.

Look, this STUPID article reports a threat that was OLD and INVESTIGATED. Did the Bush adminstration ever investigate the 9/11 threat prior to the incident? The answer for those that can’t forumulate their own ideas (e.g. Republicans)is NO!

  16. Matt says:

This was a bomb. No doubt about it. Wake up world. Terrorists want you dead. When will you fight back????

  17. Tony says:

Mike Hunt, how ignorant can you also be? The Bush AND Clinton administration did nothing about OBL and Al Qaeda before 9/11. Read the investigative reports…there is plenty of blame to go around! Clown

  18. Dominick says:

    Mike Hunt:
you’re getting all worked up. I’m no Obama fan, the silence is deafening on the possibility that there is a connection to the threats and this crash. I don’t see a bunch of people blaming BO for this, you’re seeing boogie men.

  19. John Reynolds says:

Did anyone happen to notice that at almost the same time the Air France flight crashed, in the same area there was a magnitude 4.7 quake beneath the atlantic??? http://www.iris.edu/seismon/zoom/?view=eveday&lon=-32&lat=3

I am simply considering a possible EMP from the quake or perhaps the massive release of methane as a contributor to this tragic event. Additionally, EMP activity stirred by quake may have had marked effects on the storms intensity as well.

Just a thought as I found it very strange that the quake occurred very close to the time they lost communication with the plane…

  20. Randy says:

One thing that is bothering me is the few times a US made aircraft has crashed in the past for unknown reasons they have grounded that fleet. I guess different rules apply for our European friends. But again these are the people who gave us Hitler and the Mussolini. They are sure quick to point fingers at the US when things go wrong. Pick a subject because it basically happens every week. To the comment made by Mike Hunt about Obama haters. It would be nice to stop things everytime a threat is made. But in real life you can not do that. The job of a terrorist is to disrupt our lives by terrorizing us some how. The job of our governements are to protect us and our ways of life. In the world we live in you make the choice, live in fear or live in trust. You can not have both.
