Dr. House is one hot doc according to newly released ratings by Eurodata TV Worldwide, Entertainment Weekly reports.
The Fox network Television show reportedly came in at the number one slot with over 81 million viewers across 66 countries for 2008. That’s 1.6 billion viewers tuning into the show’s outlandish, but captivating medical mysteries.
Hugh Laurie’s spot on sexy portrayal of the sharp (in more ways than one), witty and sarcastic Gregory House, Md. doesn’t need much translating to make it a worldwide sensation. The previous holder of the world’s most watched program belonged to CSI for the last two years with CSI: Las Vegas taking 2006 and CSI: Miami taking 2007. But even with the title, both CSI shows didn’t make it anywhere near House’s numbers.
In the TV comedy category, the US female-star cast of “Desperate Housewives” for the second year running beat “Monk” (US) and “Ugly Betty” (US), attracting 65.3 million viewers worldwide in 2008.
“The Bold and the Beautiful”, also a US show, with 24.5 million viewers was the most popular soap for the second consecutive year, thrashing Mexican telenovela “Marina” and US competitor “The Young And The Restless.”
