A heavy storm caused havoc in Punta del Este, department of Maldonado and Rocha with wind gusts from 80 to 120 kilometers per hour and heavy rains.
There were trees falling, roofs torn off and two people injured. There is currently a storm warning.
Punta del Este suffered heavy rains this morning and until now, very strong winds, with gusts ranging from 80 to 120 kilometers, causing trees to fall along with traffic lights, flooding streets and roofs torn off.
In addition, two people were injured, one is in delicate condition after an accident at a building in construction and the other had an accident with his motorcycle.
The electric service was interrupted in some neighborhoods due to a fire at the local energy company.
Florida, Colonia, San José, Canelones, Montevideo, southern Florida and southern Lavalleja departments are also affected by the storm and an”orange” was issued by the country’s weather service.
