The brilliant musician and composer Andres Calamaro turns 48 today. Throughout his career has been in great rock bands such as “Los Abuelos de la Nada” and “Los Rodriguez”. As a soloist he has composed some of the most celebrated Spanish language rock songs.
He learned to play the bandoneon at age 8 and at 17 he was playing keyboards on Candomble-rock group “Raices”, with whom recorded his first album.
He joined “Los Abuelos Nada”, the band led by Miguel Abuelo that recorded five albums between 1982 and 1986.
Calamaro created two of the most important hits of the band: “Mil Horas” and “Sin Gamulán”.
The story exchanged in September 1991 when he emigrated to Spain and formed the band “Los Rodriguez”, with Ariel Rot, Julián Infante and Germain Vilella. With this Spanish-Argentine group recorded four albums and achieved his greater success with “Sin Documentos” (1993). They also scored other great hits like “Dulce Condena” and “Milonga del marinero y el capitan”
Success did not stop there, as he continues to create and perform today, and hopefuly, for many more years.
