Relatives and friends of recently deceased Edward Kennedy met yesterday around his coffin, in an Irish-style ceremony, with prayers, music and humor.
The family described the ceremony as a “celebration of life” and was the last farewell to Edward before the funeral to be held at Arlington National Cemetery.
Vick’s widow, family members and friends gathered at John F. Kennedy Presidential Library, which was built in Boston in honor of President John Kennedy.
Prominent politicians were present as well as supporters of the opposition.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, former actor and California’s Republican governor was present, as a politician and as a member of the Kennedy family.
There were recognized leaders of Sinn Fein Northern Ireland, Martin McGuinness and Gerry Adams, who met with Edward during the struggle for peace in Northern Ireland.
The ceremony began with a poignant prayer that ended with the phrase: “May angels sing you to your rest,” the family promised “a celebration, a chance to celebrate his life and love, music, laughter and stories with friends and family he adored. “
