The Buenos Aires government officially announced the dismissal of the agarian minister Emilio Monzo, after the provincial governor Daniel Scioli requested so. Agricultural Affairs has informed that it was actually former president Kirchner’s request. Emilio Monzo was one of the few critics of the government political policies in the socialist party.
It is said that monzo had been a target of the national government for months. In fact, recently there had been speculations about his resignation.
“Kirchner wanted him out because he was the only one to stood up to him,” the Buenos Aires excutive said.
That means that the now former minister, an agricultural producer from Carlos Tejedor, was the only one to openly request to the end of the retentions and to stand for the producers after the extreme drought in Buenos Aires.
The rural area didn’t take long to criticize Scioli.
“It was confirmed, just like Eduardo Buzzi had said, that Buenos Aires is the National Government’s doormat,” said the Confederation of Rural Associations of Buenos Aires vicepresident, and and elected provincial deputy Jorge Srodek from PRO Union.
Meanwhile, Eduardo Buzzi, said today that dismissing Emilio Monzo was nonsense and he also stated that it was a decision he didn’t attribute to Governor Daniel Scioli but former President Nestor Kirchner. Besides he said that Monzo “is someone who enjoys prestige” in his hometown.
CRA President Mario Llambias pointed out that Monzo “had a good bond with producers” and that he listened to people. “Unfortunatelly, he didn’t bring the solutions because it was up to other people to decide that”, he said.
