Anglo American Los Bronces copper mine in Chile is operating normally after a landslide hit its access road, killing a security guard and injuring 10 at a control checkpoint, a company spokesman said on Monday.
Heavy rain has triggered rock and mud avalanches near the capital Santiago, killing at least two people and leaving one missing.
“The road is blocked, which makes it hard to access Los Bronces, but operations are running without any problems,” said Anglo American spokesman Marcelo Esquivel, adding that the mine, which is used to heavy snow, has facilities to house workers when roads are blocked.
State miner Codelco said operations were normal at its Andina copper mine that is near Los Bronces.
