River footballers suffered phone threats after another defeat in the Apertura Tournament, in the context of the global crisis the club is facing.
Now, the iniciative of some disgruntled fans, was to publish the players’ phone numbers in an internet forum.
The long list of phone numbers was published in the last few days, surely in retaliation for the poor performance the team has had for some time. The players are now seeking ways to delete their phone phone lines.
This led irate fans to swamp the players with threat and reprisal phone calls.
In fact, several team members and their families were harshly intimidated. “We know what time your wife goes shopping,” or “We know your family’s moves”, were some of the warnings.
The harassed football players were the couch Leonardo Astrada, Cristian Fabbiani, Matias Abelairas, Cristian Villagra, Daniel Vega, Nicolás Sánchez, Facundo Quiroga, Martin Galmarini, Diego Buonanotte and Oscar Ahumada.
Several players believe that the list was leaked by a journalist and, consequently, the entire squad decided not to answer the press in recent hours, particularly after the 3-1 defeat against Independiente in the match which marked Leonardo Astrada’s debut.
This was flatly denied by both men and women who cover River’s news and who understand that the information could have been obtained elsewhere.
River lost its second consecutive classic yesterday, this time against Independiente (who hadn’t beat River in thirteen years) at the Monumental stadium, and their fans lost it again.
