The government will not implement the time change to save energy as it was done in recent years, according to Federal Planning Minister Julio De Vido.
De Vido said that implementing this energy saving measure would be “pointless” because all dams are “90 percent full”.
“We have suspended the daylight saving scheme for the moment”, De Vido told reporters.
The official measure aimed at reducing the local electricity demand. However, businessmen claimed the new shedule could affect the commercial activity during the next summer holidays.
Also, De Vido remarked that in the last two years’ (energy) demand only grew by 2 percent. “
The measure was scheduled for Sunday October 18.
The governors of 20 districts, including Santa Fe, Hermes Binner, spoke against the initiative promoted by the national government to save energy by taking advantage of sunlight.
