Sean Penn is exercising his journalistic skill. The politically active actor has just arrived in Cuba on assignment for Vanity Fair and The Huffington Post, with the hopes of interviewing Fidel Castro, according to Cuban sources.
However, his agent, says the reports about him interviewing Mr Castro aren’t true. He says the Oscar winner actor is in Cuba for a “journalistic and creative” visit.
He has previously been in Havana where he held a lengthy meeting with Castro whist in holiday. He has been criticised for his support of the anti-US revolutionary and his president brother Raul. Now he is said to have flown to the communist country to discuss how U.S. President Barack Obama’s administration has affected Cuba.
Mr Penn later wrote about the 2005 encounter with ailing former leader for The Huffington Post.
Past overseas assignments for the actor turned journalist include stints in Iraq, Iran and Venezuela. A US journalist has even accused him of discrediting his good work in the gay community by lending his support to the controversial politicians Castro and Chavez, according to Contactmusic reports.Â
