The San Isidro Criminal Chamber confirmed today that Lucila Frend, accused of killing her best friend, Solange Grabenheimer, in the Buenos Aires district of Florida in 2007, should be subjected to public trial for the crime of murder qualified by treachery.

“After thoroughly analyzing the record, I believe that they can reasonably maintain the suspicion on Lucila Frend”, pointed out the judge Luis Cayuela, who agreed with the doctors and Leonardo Pitlevnik and Juan Stepaniuc.

Among his arguments, he said it was “an indication that her death occurred not only during her sleep but also in an interregnum in which the victim did not wake up.”

Solange was lying face down beside her bed and, according to the autopsy, she was killed with four stab wounds on the neck. She lied face up for several hours and then the murderer threw her to the floor. For the prosecutor, Lucila is the prime suspect because she would have been in the house at the time of the crime. The relationship between her and her friend was worn out and she staged a scene to be part of the body’s discovery.

Last May, Judge Diaz referred the case to trial, but Frend’s counsel requested the annulment of that measure from the House of San Isidro. However, if it’s confirmed the accused will return to the country for trial, said Pizarro Posse.

Frend is accused of “aggravated murder by malice”, offense that carries life imprisonment, but she was never arrested in connection with the case because the judge sees no danger of her running away.
