In a letter released this afternoon, the leader of “Viejas Locas” ensures that no violence was observed before the show, but stated “we are sorry and apologize to those who could not enjoy the night.”
The expected return of the band at Velez stadium, ended with a brutal police repression in the vicinity and a boy aged 17, Ruben Carballo, is still hospitalized in critical condition.
“Please do not generate more violence with demonstrations may provoke. Today we are speaking of unfortunate events which we totally repudiate ” asked the singer, who could not escape some criticism.
The clashes began when hundreds of fans who had tried to enter the stadium. For this reason, the police began with a rebuke against people with no tickets those who had paid. The serious incidents left rubber bullets, fences knocked down, bottles flying through the air, wounded (which is the aforementioned Carballo) and a total of 44 detainees.
This is the letter issued by “Pity” Alvarez to editors:
“Night of 14th November 2009, I came to the stadium with a borrowed car trying to get going as quickly as possible and sawthe situation around the stadium. If describe the above I’d say a lot but a lot of people walking from one place to another and never saw violence or problems between the kids waiting to get in, I was surprised. On the other hand, in the distance, I see police personnel in large quantities which often stopped me to ask me who I was and let me go and everything was quiet, this is repeated about five times. The other musicians, who were inside should not know what happened on Juan B. Justo ave.
If there was a census statistics would be, 40,000 people attending the show and there is a percentage that is not under their control and in addition there are 400 uniformed, mobile, patrols, brigade and civilian personnel (who do not know at that time much). I will not say I saw repression (at that specific time) or uncontrolled people..
I do not know who are the innocent and the guilty but there is justice, a law that men do not handle.
We’re sorry and apologize to the boys and girls who could not enjoy that night. Please do not generate more violence than there was, with demonstrations.
We expect the speedy recovery for Ruben we accompany his family “
