River Plate’s presidency: The ones who don’t bash Aguilar aren’t candidates

aguilar_gordo

With a bit more than 20 days from the election for River Plate’s president, most candidates seem to blame current Jose Maria Aguilar for the club’s bad situation.

Now they’re aiming their guns at the wrong target, for sure, but they could have also done a little more for the club as most candidates also worked with Aguilar in the Board.

Next we post extracts from interviews with the candidates from Diario Clarín.

Mariano Mera Figueroa

-What is your opinion on Aguilar’s period?

-”Aguilar betrayed River’s people who did not vote for him so that there could be cheating and personal gain. They voted for him because he was young and offered the hope of change. But he disappointed us. Today we have ‘Aguilarismo’ (people working for Aguilar), people who, at some point, robbed or let robberies happen. They thought River’s problems were short term problems”.

Rodolfo D’onofrio

-What are your thoughts on Aguilar? Would you let him take a place in your party?

-”I am tired of him. I got into politics to finish with Aguilar“, said D’onofrio categorically

Daniel Passarella

-Why, you believe, River finds itself in this lousy situation?

-”The only people responsible for this lousy, disastrous, pitiful, and worst period in history are Aguilar and Mario Israel” (member of the footbal council).

The only one who missed speaking about Aguilar was Antonio Caselli. But for him, we found statements in other interviews.

Telam‘: “River’s finances are poor so we must act inmediately”.

‘Indirecto‘:” If we take control, I will do anything so that Aguilar’s administration is judged“.
