Bolivian man electrocuted while setting up Christmas tree

A 22 year old Bolivian man died after receiving an electric shock from an electricity transformer when setting up his  Christmas tree.

The tree was a gift he received from the U.S. and according to his sister, he was very happy with the gift.

The young man, identified as Fernando Melgar Ruiz, said he needed a transformer, as the lights were not working because of the lower voltage. “He went to my room to take one from my appliances installed there,”  said his sister.

Then, when the young man plugged the transformer, received a strong electric shock that killed him.He was rushed to a medical facility but he died on the way there.

The tragic incident occurred at his home of Santa Cruz, according to newspaper El Mundo.

His sister Teresa told the media that Fernando had asked to open a bottle of cider to toast the installation of the tree.

Other sources indicate that the young man would have been barefoot and as a result of moisture on the floor of the room he received the fatal shock.
