Peter Robinson, Northern Irish first minister and leader of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), will leave temporarily, after the scandals about the infidelities of his wife.
Robinson will leave his leadership for six weeks and will be replaced by his party colleague, Arlene Foster.
The minister had to take this action due to the pressures he was suffering with his wife, Iris Robinson, about an affair she had with a 19-year-old boy who was benefited with thousands of dollars to establish a restaurant.
The scandal has become a main issue in British press and also could lead to serious political consequences.
Iris, who was a deputy, resigned, pleading a deep depression. She is currently receiving intensive” treatment in a psychiatric center in Belfast, said her husband.
Peter Robinson, leader of the Protestant Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) is expected to give a public statement to the Northern Irish Parliament this afternoon.
