Flight 634 from the United Airlines that was going from Chicago to Newark, was about to land at Liberty International Airport, when a failure in the landing gear shocked its passengers.
According to Paul Wasylyszyn, when the plane was about to land, had to gain fly again at 9 am yesterday.
“Then the plane began to spin in circles around the airport” said Jim Falk, another passenger, who was sitting in the front.
“Normally, a plane like this doesn’t perform flybys, so we realized that something was wrong” said Falk.
Then the captain spoke to the passengers and said that there was a problem with the landing gear of the Airbus A319 and that they were working to fix it.
The entire crew acted with absolute patience, which was praised by the passengers. “They did a great job,” Falk said about the pilot and crew. “There weren’t screams, panic or anything.”
Still, they warned everyone due to a possible collision. The shocked passengers began sending text messages to their loved ones, while they “embraced her knees in collision position.”
“When the plane landed, part of it made contact with the runway” said Robin Urbanski, spokeswoman for United. “Luckily nobody was hurt.”
The aircraft was completely stopped and the passengers rushed to the emergency exit slides, running to the buses of the ‘Port Authority’ that were waiting to take them to the terminal.
