Paolo Berlusconi, the Italian prime minister’s brother and owner of the newspaper ‘Il gionale’, was sentenced by the Supreme Court to four months of imprisonment for false invoices.

Anyway, Paolo Berlusconi won’t complete his punishment because a law done in July 2006 provides a reduction of three years for all crimes committed before May 2006, except for acts related to terrorism, mafia, pedophilia or sexual violence.

The Court of Appeal of Milan (northern Italy) in July 2008 held the imprisonment of Paolo Berlusconi to four months due to false invoices.

Paolo Berlusconi, 60 years old, is a businessman as his older brother.

AFP said that “The prosecution appealed the decision, which had been annulled by the Supreme, and the case had been referred to another chamber of the Court of Milan, which had confirmed his punishment.

Paolo Berlusconi was prosecuted for false invoicing in 1993-1995 for a total of 2.5 million euros by Simtec company, responsible for managing a landfill in Cerro Maggiore (Northern Italy).

Silvio Berlusconi also faces corruption allegations but was never convicted.
