Tragedy at the Parana River

An annual swimming competition held in the Parana River, left at the moment, several people missing, four injured and one killed.

Staff Prefecture rescued several athletes and seeks the lost, among them are teachers, Leon Seró and Mauro Bacigalupi.

The competition started at 10 AM in Hunting and Fishing Club of Pacú Cua and organizers initially hesitated to hold the event due to bad weather. But they gave the order to leave and competition became a tragedy.

Local sources stated that “the accident occurred, apparently because of the wake of a barge that produced large waves in the Parana, which is affected by a flood due to constant rains caused by the climatic phenomenon El Niño.
