Metallica returned to River, Thursday, and for two hours presented in front of some 60 thousand people, who lived moments of emotion that exceeded all expectations about the greatest heavy metal band in the world.
After 10 years of absence, and with a crushing sound, the band began their concert with the song “Creeping Death”, provoking a wave of enthusiasm among the people who sang the lyrics with the band.
Metallica singer James Hetfield on the first show in Argentina told his followers: “Buenos Aires! Listen carefully! We are very sorry for not being able to come in 2003 and for having broken the hearts of the fans. But now we are here to heal these hearts.” (¡Buenos Aires! ¡Escúchenme bien! Estamos muy apenados por no haber podido venir en 2003 y por haber destrozado los corazones de los fans. Pero ahora estamos acá para curar esos corazones)
With “The Ecstasy of Gold” by Ennio Morricone and scenes from “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly” that were displayed on giant screens placed on both sides of the stage began their first show in Argentina.
Drummer Lars Ulrich marked the “1-2-3″ to start the concert with “Creeping Death”.
“Are you ready?” (¿Etan listos?) Said James Hetfield, before playing “For Whom the Bell Tolls” and “Wherever I May Roam”, one of the most celebrated songs, showing that there were many fans from the band’s early years.
They also performed the songs “Harvester of Sorrow”, “Fade to Black” and “That Was Just Your Life”, the first from the album that the band is introducing, “Death Magnetic”.
“Sad but True”, “Cyanide” where there was a warning by Hetfield on how “historic” the concert would be , “All Nightmare Long” and “One” with fireworks, were included in the show .
Nearing the end of the show, an audience who stood with arms raised or metalheads gestures, celebrated “Master of Puppets”, “Nothing Else Matters” and “Enter Sandman”.
