On Saturday afternoon the president-elect of Uruguay, Jose Mujica, met with the governor of the Argentine province of Entre Rios, Sergio Urribarri, in the resort Iporá Tacuarembo, in the villa “Cachimba” owned by the hospital director of Tacuarembo Hospital, Ciro Ferreira. The meeting lasted for over an hour behind closed doors.

The nephews of environmentalist Juan Veronesi permitted the entrance of some people to Uruguay through his field, which mocked the roadblock on Route 136, which is in place to protest the construction of a pupl plant on the Uruguayan bank of the river.

The elected president of Uruguay, Jose Mujica, rejected the idea that a new paper mill with Finnish, Chilean, and Swedish capitals be installed in Fray Bentos, where the controversial Botnia already operates.

Official sources announced today that the Argentine government made “contradictory statements and manipulated information” over the trial – on the Finnish cellulose plant, Botnia – being carried out in the International Court of Justice (CIJ) of Haya against Uruguay.

In a new hearing in the International Court in The Hague, the government of Uruguay accused the Argentine government of “consenting” to the roadblocks. Meanwhile, the Argentine government reiterated that the paper mill caused “pollution” and it uses “prohibited substances”.
