With most votes in the Senate, Mercedes Marcó del Pont has an almost secured future as president of the Central Bank after the failure of a special session to reject her ascension. With the unexpected turn of two senators, the opposition did not get the 37 votes for a quorum and did not turn up to the the session.

The conflict for Central Bank reserves continues creating controversy. Agustín Rossi, the head of ruling party in Deputies Chamber, said that Cristina Kirchner’s decree won’t be repealed until the Senator Carlos Verna’s project is treated in the Senate.
