Sandro’s donor was a a 22-year-old who last Thursday 19th entered the guard of Hospital Italiano from Almagro with a gunshot wound in the head and although doctors tried to revive him, they declared he had brain death.

Yesterday, our cherished Roberto Sanchez, aka Sandro, underwent surgery, after a distressing wait for a donor, in the Hospital Italiano in Mendoza. Director Miguel Nicolas reported that “the singer’s organism is adapting sucessfully to the new organs.” And that is necessary to be cautious during the following 72 hours, because there could be complications.”

After five hours, Sandro’s surgery ended successfully. “The organs are functioning properly in his body,” said Dr. Miguel Nicolas. Anyway, there are 72 hours of risk and no less than 40 blood donors will be needed.

The heart and lungs that popular singer Sandro needs to stay alive and which will be transplanted today were provided by the same person who donated his liver to Pilar Chavez, the 19 year-old girl who is favourably recoverin Hospital Italiano.

Pilar Chavez, the 19-year-old girl, received yesterday a liver transplant and began to breathe without the assistance of a respirator today, relatives and doctors at the Italian Hospital said.

María Pilar Chavez, the 19-year-old who was on INCUCAI’s emergency national list awaiting a liver transplant, was operated this morning after the donor turned up.

Pilar is 19 years old, she is in the Italian Hospital of Buenos Aires and urgently needs a liver transplant. Her friends and family hold a vigil.

A sperm donor with an undetected genetic heart defect passed on the condition to nine of his 24 children, including one who died at age 2 from heart failure, according to a medical journal report.
