Repressors Bernardo Jorge Olivera Rovere and Jose Menendez were sentenced to life imprisonment by the Oral Federal Tribunal 5 of Buenos Aires for the crimes committed during the Argentine dictatorship. Olivera Rovere was a deputy commander of I Corpsunder the command of Guillermo Suarez Mason. Three other officers were acquitted.

Jorge Julio Lopez disappeared on September 18 of 2006, when he went to watch the final arguments in the trial of former Research Director of the Buenos Aires police, Miguel Etchecolatz. The builder, who went missing during the dictatorship, testified in the trial that ended up with the former oppressor’s life imprisonment sentence.

Jorge Fornari has declined his nomination as Villa Gobernador Galvez´mayor at the request of authorities from the Mauricio Macri’s party. He had called to “burn the scumbags that live in the back neighborhood,” referring to an emergency settlement in the area.

Ricardo Cirielli, general secretary of the Aeronautical Technicians Association (APTA), said that an investigation elucidated that 92% of a series of complaints about technical failures in 17 Aerolineas Argentinas aircrafts occurred in May, were “hatched by drivers, “what he called” a clear sabotage.
