Spain have retained the Davis Cup with Saturday’s doubles victory in Barcelona earning an unassailable 3-0 lead over the Czech Republic as Rafael Nadal enjoyed a moral boosting success.

US Champion, Juan Martin del Potro, was loosing before Radek Stepanek 0-4 when he retired due to an injury on his back. He was barely 27 minutes in the court showing signs of pain.

Czech tennis player Ivo Minar has reportedly tested positive for a banned substance while representing his country in the Davis Cup.

Last year’s Davis Cup finalists Argentina were dumped out by the Czech Republic in the quarter-finals after Radek Stepanek defeated Juan Monaco in the deciding rubber.

The quarter final series of the Davis Cup against Czech Republic, will be launched today at 10:00 am, in the match where Argentine Juan Monaco will face Berdych.
